Nowadays we can still see some rickshaws - tri-wheels bicycle - traversing narrow alleyways, including cobblestone streets and skyscraper-lined avenues in Macau. An historic mode of transport, they have survived time and remain an integral part of city living.
Invented in Japan in mid 19th century, they appeared in China at the end of the 19th century; originally they had two wheels and were pulled by their driver on foot, with passengers seated at the back. They were known as jerinxás.
