Plot: The film offers a look at China after its founding, and the defeat of the Kuomintang as the background to the story. The underground Communist Party bravely instigated rebellion against the Lian Rong ship, the Kuomintang's American landing craft. After being instigated into rebellion, the captain of the Lian Rong hoisted the Chinese national flag for the first time while in Macau's inner harbor.

"Macau 1949" has been recommended to the nation as the Outstanding Feature Film of 2010 by the State Administration of Radio, Film, and Television (SARFT).
