Nos últimos oito meses o blogue Macau Antigo registou mais de um milhão de pageviews, superando a marca dos 4 milhões de acessos desde a criação do projecto em 2008.
Este mês de Março chegou ao fim como o melhor de sempre. Perto de 500 mil visualizações (486,058) em apenas um mês. São quase 16 mil visitas por dia!
Criado no final de 2008 o projecto tem mais de 6300 entradas publicadas (posts) consolidando-se como o maior acervo documental online sobre a história de Macau, disponível 24 por dia em várias línguas e em todo o mundo.
Os dados estatísticos são da plataforma Blogger onde o blogue Macau Antigo está alojado.
Neste post duas fotografias raras que mostram o antigo Convento e Igreja de S. Francisco, demolidos ca. 1860 para dar lugar ao Quartel de S. Francisco poucos anos depois e do qual ainda resta a muralha. A configuração actual do antigo quartel já resulta de transformações posteriores.Uma foto é de Milton Miller ca. 1860 no sistema 'stereoview'; a outra é da mesma época e foi publicada em 1868 na The China Magazine (Hong Kong) e é de autor desconhecido. A fraca qualidade da impressão fez com que tivesse passado despercebida até agora. Com recurso à IA consegui 'recuperar' a imagem com a legenda "The Public Gardens Macao and Convent of San Francisco", ou seja, "Jardim Público e Convento de S. Francisco".
'Descobri' as duas fotografias recentemente no âmbito das pesquisas que faço para o blogue Macau Antigo. Juntam-se assim aquele que se pensava ser o único registo fotográfico do Convento e Igreja de s. Francisco feito por Jules Itier no sistema daguerreótipo em 1844.

A new milestone for Macau Antigo blog
Over the last eight months, the Macau Antigo blog has registered more than one million page views, surpassing the milestone of 4 million hits since the project’s inception in 2008.
This past March concluded as the blog's best month on record, reaching nearly 500,000 views (486,058) in just 31 days—averaging almost 16,000 visits per day.
Founded in late 2008, the project now features over 6,300 published entries, consolidating its position as the largest online documentary archive on the history of Macau. The content is available 24/7 in multiple languages to a global audience. These statistical insights are provided by the Blogger platform, where the site is hosted.
Rare Historical Discovery
Attached are two rare photographs showing the former Convent and Church of St. Francis, which were demolished around 1860 to make way for the St. Francis Barracks. While the current configuration of the barracks reflects later transformations, the original wall still remains.
The First Image: A "stereoview" captured by Milton Miller circa 1860.
The Second Image: Published in 1868 in The China Magazine (Hong Kong) by an unknown author. Due to poor print quality, this image remained unnoticed until now; it has been "recovered" using AI enhancement.
I "discovered" these two photographs recently during my ongoing research for the Macau Antigo blog. They now join what was previously thought to be the only existing photographic record of the Convent and Church of St. Francis: the 1844 daguerreotype by Jules Itier.

剛剛過去的三月份更是創下了博客成立以來的單月最高紀錄，在短短31天內達到了近50萬次（486,058次）瀏覽，平均每日訪問量近16,000次。
全球最大的澳門歷史線上檔案庫
自2008年底創立至今，《澳門舊事》已發佈超過6,300篇條目。憑藉其豐富的文獻資料，該項目已鞏固了其作為全球最大澳門歷史線上紀錄檔案庫的地位。博客內容通過 Blogger 平台託管，提供多種語言版本，全天候向全球讀者開放。
重大發現：聖方濟各修院及教堂稀有影像首度曝光
除了流量上的突破，博客創辦人近期在研究中取得了重大的歷史發現。隨本稿附上兩張極其罕見的歷史照片，展示了已於1860年左右拆除的原聖方濟各修院及教堂（Convent and Church of St. Francis）。
該址隨後被改建為加思欄兵營（St. Francis Barracks）。雖然兵營建築在隨後的歲月中歷經多次修繕更迭，但原有的圍牆至今依然屹立。
這次發現的兩張影像分別為：
第一張影像： 由米爾頓·米勒（Milton Miller）於1860年左右拍攝的「立體照片」（Stereoview）。
第二張影像： 於1868年刊載於香港《中國雜誌》（The China Magazine），作者不詳。由於原始印刷質量欠佳，這張照片一直未被史學界重視。近期通過人工智能（AI）增強技術修復後，其珍貴細節才得以重現。
在此之前，學界普遍認為由於勒·伊蒂耶（Jules Itier）於1844年拍攝的銀版攝影法照片，是聖方濟各修院唯一的影像記錄。這兩張新照片的加入，為研究19世紀澳門城市變遷提供了彌足珍貴的新證據。
