"The Rev.d Robert Morrison, D.D. And his Assistants in the Translation of the Bible into Chinese"/ O reverendo Robert Morrison e os seus assistentes traduzindo a bíblia" é a legenda que resume esta pintura de George Chinnery datada de 1829. 
Sendo esta a única fonte de rendimentos do pintor o mais provável é que o quadro tenha sido pago pela Companhia Britânicas das Índias Orientais. Resume os 14 anos que demorou a tradução da bíblia por Li Shigong, Chen Laoyi e Robert Morrison. A partir da pintura de George chinnery foram feitas várias impressões (gravuras).
Descrição: sentado frente a uma mesa com um grande livro aberto sobre uma estante e um livro fechado com marcador entre as páginas; de corpo inteiro para a esquerda, de frente, olhando para a direita; vestindo um vestido escuro ornamentado sobre casaco, colarinho branco e gravata; segurando uma grande folha de papel com as letras "Collegium Anglo senicum MDCCCXVIII" (1818) - referência ao Colégio Anglo-Chinês/ Anglo Chinese College criado por Morrison e que a partir de 1843 passou para Hong Kong; visto ao pormenor, na lombada de um dos livros pode ler-se a inscrição "Dicionário Chinês"; em primeiro plano, à esquerda, um globo.

Esta ilustração surge na biografia da viúva de Morrison. Uma carta datada de 9 de Fevereiro de 1829 dirigida a Morrison permite perceber algo mais sobre a pintura e respectiva ilustração. É assinada pelos membros da companhia Britânica das Índias Orientais:
"Mr Chinnery has just finished a most excellent picture of Dr Morrison attended by two Chinese teachers. If Dr Morrison will consent to sacrifice for the space of one year the gratification which he must necessarily derive from the possession of this portrait, to the wishes of his friends, who are desirous of preserving their recollection of an old acquaintance, and who can unite, to the memory of the most distinguished Chinese scholar of the age, their feelings towards him as a kind and aimiable member of this society; it is proposed to request him to allow this picture to be sent to England in the Orwell, for the purpose of obtaining from it the most perfect mezzotinto engraving that can be taken.The celebrated artist to whom they are indebted for this portrait of Dr Morrison has expressed his readiness to undertake the commission of procuring the engraving.Signed by every member of the Company's Factory."
Morrison acabria por aceitar que a pintura fosse reproduzida em papel com as receitas a recevertrem para o colégio que fundara.
Segundo a viúva, a pintura ficou na sua posse. Pelo menos assim foi até 1839. Desconhece-se o paradeiro da mesma, admitindo-se que possa ter sido destruída num incêndio em 1874.
Uma das ilustrações foi impressa por Turner em Londres a 29 de Março de 1830 com uma dedicatória à família real britânica.
