Este anúncio foi publicado num jornal de Hong Kong em 1909 e refere uma excursão de Hong Kong a Macau para assistir à "Procissão do Senhor da Cruz" (ou dos Passos), um ritual religioso muito antigo no território.
Veja-se este excerto de "China Political, Commercial and Social", de Robert Montgomery Martin, datado de 1847: "(...) Again on the Sunday of the Cross Domingo da Cruz the Redeemer is represented by the image of a full grown man who clad in a purple garment wearing on his head a crown of thorns and on his shoulder a heavy cross bends one of his knees on the bot tom of a bier supported by eight of the most distinguished citizens At this procession the whole Roman Catholic population attend accompanied by children in fancy dresses to represent angels with muslin wings at their shoulders This procession perambulates the town of Macao and then proceeds to the con vent of St Augustine."
No "Almanach Luso-Chinez de Macau" para o ano de 1866 pode ler-se: "Procisões religiosas Fevereiro, 17 Procissão da Cruz: Sae da egreja de S. Agostinho e recolhe á da Sé. Tem guarda de honra."
Na edição de 15 de Fevereiro de 1869 do Boletim da Província de Macau e Timor:
"No Sabbado de noite foi da igreja de Santo Agostinho para a Sé Cathedral a imagem do Senhor Jesus dos Passos. Hontem sahio a imagem em procissão da Sé para Sto Agostinho percorrendo segundo o costume com grande acompanhamento do povo christão de algumas das ruas da cidade."
