Edição de 3 de Abril de 1858 do jornal norte-americano (Boston) Ballou's Pictorial. Inclui um desenho da baía da Praia Grande e um pequeno artigo sobre Macau onde se pode ler "general view of Macao". Escreve-se que a cidade tem semelhanças com Cádiz (Espanha) e que o porto, habitualmente com pouco movimento, teve a presença de inúmeras embarcações em Dezembro de 1857.
"We present on this page a general view of the beautiful Portuguese city of Macao, which is situated on an island of the same name at the mouth of the Canton River, China. It is built, as our engraving shows, in a graceful sweep, while beyond it rise bold eminences, crowned with churches and forts. By many who have seen both cities, it has been compared to Cadiz. Tha harbor of Macao is not generally a busy one, but in December last it presented an animated spectacle, being the rendezvous of all nations. Never had it so many illustrious guests. (...)".
